VHF notes (UHF notes below) ========= Note that on July 14 2003 T/R switch B on VHF was determined to be bad. tau1av of 03 April 2003 shows pp data slightly displaced but of same shape, i.e. probably not a T/R switch problem but there is some gain difference. Both analysed together (merged) in analysis of May 2004. 27, 28 29 May 2003 show same effects. 03 Jul 2003 ----------- Tx down for cp7hv tau1av of 31 Aug 2003: ------------------- Analysing with guisdap8, combining both halves shows a problem: Probably T/R switch. The raw Ne shows one pp decreasing much more rapidly on the topside than the other. Repeating analysis separately. Note that the previous tau1av run on 26 Aug does not show this problem. Analysed together. 14 Aug 2003 analysis also shows separate pp profiles. Re-analyse separately. 12 Aug 2003 looks OK, no separate pp traces. 05 Sep 2003 ----------- Tx down for tau1av@vhf (11-13) Analysis of 9 Sept 2003 seems OK (tau1av). Analysis of 12 Sept 2003 also shows a tendency for 1 pp to show a faster drop-off than the other, but continue analysing both together. 14 Sept 2003: ------------- tau1av After 06:32UT the data is bad. Looks like radar controller timing error. 6 Oct 2003 tau1vsplit analysis automatically makes vhfa Why ? On 13 Oct 2003 Arild noted that T/R switch B was faulty. UHF notes ========= 14 Feb 2003: From notes.txt in Madrigal: This data set was a test of tau2t_pl, made by G. Wannberg. For some reason a magic_const of 0.26 was necessary to get the densities in the F region to agree with the dynasonde densities. Note also that the system temperature was unusually high (about 400K). Whether this was so, or whether there was a bug in the code I do not know. Since the data look good otherwise, the analysis results are made public but be cautious when using this data for hidden traps. M. Rietveld. ------------------ 14 March 2003: The tau2_pl_u data taken between 09 and 12 UT was without transmitter so could not be analysed. 25 March 2003: tau2pl data is bad for some reason. Tsys is about 400 and no useful signal. 23 June 2003. The short bit of 23 June 2003 tau1u data seems bad There is no signal in the pp and in the analysed results. 26 June 2003 tau1_ant data from 00- ca. 07.20 UT did not analyse at first. The antenna parameters were not being recorded. Used the scan_cp3 script to hard-code the positions which were then written to the analysis results file. 1 Aug 2003: ----------- arc_dlayeru_zenith on this day was actually recording VHF data by mistake until about 11:30 UT. So only data after about 11:30 UT is good UHF data. 12-13 Aug 2003. -------------- There were problems with reading UPC Power etc. So have to set value. From 13:48 UT on 12 Aug 2003 to 01:26 UT on 13 Aug. set power=1.26MW. 26 Sep ------- Tx down from 15:00 28 Oct 2003 ------------ The short bit of French tau2pl at 09... UT Tx down 6 and 7 Nov 2003 --------------- The two very short pieces of tau2pl raw data on 6 Nov 2003 (09:05 to 09:09 UT) and on 7 Nov 2003 (10:50 to 11:16 UT) were analysed but the ion line data appear to be bad and useless. On 7 Nov 2003 the plasma line part looks partly OK, looks like HF-induced line is visible ?.
